Business Line Manager - Solar

A Brief Summary of This Position: The Business Line Manager - Solar will be the driving force behind Valmont Utility's Solar product segment strategy and execution, combining input from senior management, sales, customers and prospects to set the strategic vision and lead the execution of our product plans.  Managing those functions essential to product line strategy, business development and goal achievement, this position is responsible for the overall success of Valmont Utility Solar product segments in North America.  Specific duties include overall responsibility for product line stewardship, market and competitive analysis, and the formulation and implementation of strategic response to market opportunities that present themselves.  Integral to this is the overall management of product line profitability, participation in the product development process, and support of sales and business development. Reporting to the Vice President & GM - North America Utility Division, the Business Line Manager - Solar  will ensure the objectives and priorities established by Valmont Utility are implemented in North America. Essential Functions: Primary responsibilities include the planning, execution and communication of the division goals, product strategy and profitability. Responsible for the direct management of professional individual contributors or other team supervisors.  Provides strategy direction for each respective business line team and its members.  Responsible for succession planning for respective business line teams and provides guidance and employee development of business line team members.  Some of the specific duties include: Establishes the product plan / strategy and roadmap in support of the divisional strategy Identify the business and operational requirements based upon customer needs and market feedback Develops the new product introduction plan based on voice of the customer input and market research Analyze the customer detail and market potential to provide product forecast guidance Responsible for achieving product-segment target results including revenue, profitability and market share Analyze the competitive landscape determining market capacity and provide guidance on margins  and lead times Provide margin and lead time guidance to Project Administration team Researches and understands price/value in each respective segment and optimizes gross profit margin by driving cost reductions, adjusting price, or exiting markets Provides financial analysis on product line profitability for current and potential customers or projects Works with Sales team to deploy product plan and ensure clear communication of product segment objectives Analysis of bids and forecast to determine win / loss ratios to provide quote strategy by customer type and region Executes and maintains the product segmentation process Assists in the marketing plan development for new product introductions within the product segment Works closely with the Marketing Department to develop, fund and execute, ROI-based integrated marketing communication campaigns that influence target audiences and grow sales.  Develops and implements a brand strategy as appropriate. Provides timely and consistent communication on the analysis of market share, margins, and competitive landscape to divisional leadership Effectively communicates and trains the business development and sales force on the product strategy / plan  Other Important Details about the Role: Indirect team leadership required for new product development teams, large project coordination, and strategic sales teams Develops and communicates responses and company positions in response to product specific challenges Communicates the current win / loss opportunity detail to the sales and business development team Product Segment results and progress towards Division goals and associated metrics Other various metrics as defined by Division management team Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Bachelor's with 7+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 9+ years relevant experience or 11+ years of relevant experience Experience in North America Solar PV structures industry Minimum five years of demonstrated product leadership experience with a track record of consistent and exemplary achievement Demonstrated mathematical aptitude, exceptional financial acumen  Decisive problem-solving ability and capability to assess people and situations with accuracy Confident self-starter with integrity and accountability Outstanding oral and written communication skills Highly motivated, competitive, and entrepreneurial individual with a desire to tackle challenging opportunities Must be able to effectively and persuasively present complex information in a simple way to executive level audiences Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities Ability to travel up to 15% Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Management or Engineering Master's degree in Business or Engineering Utility Industry Experience Working Environment and Physical Efforts:  Primarily in a fast-paced and demanding office environment. May be required to go into production, warehouse or outdoor work environments Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working Occasionally required to stand and walk Must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds including frequently carrying a laptop, occasionally pulling, pushing or lifting luggage or equipment when travelling Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception R4718

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
