Position: Assistant/Floater
Hours: Monday - Friday
(temporary part-time Positions-25 hours a week)
Must be available May 12-August 15.
Pay: $8.00
General Function: Under the supervision of the On-Site Director, supervises small groups jointly with other counselors in addition to leading their own group and ensure safety and well-being of each summer fun club youth.
1. Support the counselors in activities.
2. Participates, leads and/or assists other staff members with planning, organizing and carrying out activities for enrolled children.
3. Attends all staff meetings.
4. Always stays alert to any potential health dangers to Summer Day Camp participants.
5. Communicates effectively with both children and parents.
6. Must be able to perform duties in pool area ensuring safety and well-being of all participants.
7. Will be required to get into water and participate in water activities with children.
8. Records daily attendance, maintaining accurate and complete records of all state
documentation.
9. Upholds all YMCA policies and philosophy and utilizes Summer Day Camp goals and objectives as a basis for working
with everyone.
10. Assumes all other responsibilities as assigned by the On-Site Director.
11. Maintains positive relationships with children, parents and other staff.
12. On-site attendance is required of this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Ability to work with children of varying ages (5-12 years).
1. Thorough knowledge of the branch's emergency procedures.
2. Ability to work independently with attention to detail required.
3. Swimming abilities required.
4. Customer service skills desirable.
5. Ability to work with a diverse groups of people required; bilingual capability helpful.
-Must be at least age 16.
-Must be available May 12-August 15.
-Previous childcare experience highly desirable. Must possess high level of maturity.
- Current CPR, First Aid required
-On-Site attendance is required of this position
