How you will contribute Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Safety Specialist position in the Global Irrigation Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will provide safety support and training to the Irrigation division at the Valley site. Additionally, you will
Assist the Health Wellness Services Assistant with corporate safety matters
Work on special projects under the direction of the Valley Plant Manager in order to complete a wide variety of tasks that are part of Valmont Irrigation's comprehensive safety initiative for the Valley site
Be a participating member in the activities of the site safety and health related teams
Act as the on-site expert for compliance with legislative safety standards and for implementing assigned Valmont Safety Standards that meet the needs of a constantly changing safety environment
Prepare a plan of work that will be reviewed by the Manager, Safety and Health Services to review progress on established objectives and review opportunities for continued success
Attend staff meeting and regular Valley safety meetings
Support services provided to the Corporate Safety office on an as needed basis
Hold meetings with the Assistant Corporate Safety Director or appropriate division safety leadership team to determine the best plan of action to address any sub-standard safety performance
Conduct frequent update reports to inform the organization about how Valley Irrigation is progressing toward the safety objectives and goals
What it takes _Required Qualifications_
A High School diploma / GED
At least one year of work experience in a safety-related role
The ability to about the irrigation side of the plant to attend meetings and visit production areas
The ability to listen and understand information being presented
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Work, Excel and Outlook
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
An Associates or Bachelor's degree
An OSHA recognized safety certification
Critical thinking, logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems
The ability to communicate information and ideas well in writing
Problem sensitivity to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong
The ability to understand written sentences in work-related documents involving safety regulations and legislation
The ability to convey information effectively and present information to small groups
Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
